1. Assessment

When you contact us, we will arrange a free no obligation survey at a time that suits you.

When we visit, our specialists will discuss your personal requirements to help decide on a stairlift that will suit your present, and future needs.

Next, using specialist software, they will measure your staircase, assessing what type of rail it will require and if any preparatory work (such as an extra power point) is required. The software we use creates a 3D model of the staircase and the stairlift track, allowing you to see what the stairlift will look like.

When the survey has finished, our consultant will discuss the options available and you can choose any additional features or upholsteries you might like.

2. Quote

Only after precisely measuring your staircase and finding the best solution for your needs will our consultants provide an accurate no-obligation quotation – the price we quote will be the price you pay, no hidden extras.

If you are seeking to avail of a grant, we can provide the necessary application forms. If you are purchasing privately, we will provide information on how to fully reclaim your VAT. We also offer flexi-fi finance to spread the cost.

Once you decide to order with us, we’ll ask you for a deposit and then we’ll put your order into production and agree on a suitable date for installation. Straight stairlifts can be installed in about an hour and we can book an installation date immediately. Curved stairlifts may take up to 4 weeks as they are be fabricated to exactly match the bends in your stairs.

3. Installation

Our stairlifts are fixed to the steps and not the wall, so there is very little mess. Even so, our expert installers will always clean up after themselves and leave your home as tidy as they found it.

Once our stairlift engineer has completed the installation and tidied up, they will show you how to use the stairlift and the various functions. Only when you are 100% comfortable and satisfied will they leave. In the unlikely event of a problem, your stairlift is covered by a 2-year warranty.

Unique Features

The Slide Track is a ground breaking solution available only from Handicare for use with a Simplicity  or  Simplicity+ straight stairlift. This unique solution allows the track moves up the staircase at the same time as the seat is moving, leaving the doorway at the base of your stairs unobstructed. This is ideal for tight spaces or when the track may block a doorway or hall. Similar to a powered hinge, the Slide Track works automatically when the toggle or remote control is activated.

In order for the seat to get low enough for the user to sit on, it is necessary for the track to extend beyond the staircase to the lower floor level. Or in some cases, there may be a doorway close to the bottom of the stairs and the track may intrude across this. Curved Handicare stairlifts can be supplied with a powered hinged track that extends when you go downstairs, and folds up when you go upstairs or want to park the lift out of the way, allowing clear access on the lower level.

When you arrive at the top of the stairs, you will need to swivel your seat around so that you exit onto the landing safely. All Handicare stairlifts come with a manual swivel that is operated from a handle located at either side of the seat. Choosing a powered swivel option removes the need to you to operate the lever and turn the seat: simply continue to hold the toggle in the direction of travel when you arrive at the top of the rail and the seat will automatically turn to face the landing.

In order to maximise free space, all Handicare stairlifts have foldable seats, footplates and arms that can be folded up when not in use, allowing clear access for other stair users. You can also choose the powered footplate option that will remove the need to bend down to fold or unfold the footplate. You can choose to have a footplate that folds up automatically when the seat is also folded up, or choose a footplate that is operated separately from a switch on the arm.

Handicare curved stairlifts are available in a twin tube option which delivers strength and stability whilst enabling tight bends, in fact this system offers the tightest bend that is available from any stairlift manufacturer making it an ideal choice for compact stairs and hallways. This stylish solution is tailored to your needs and your individual staircase, ensuring the best fit possible whilst giving you a choice of upholstery finishes and colours too.
